About Us

Building Africa's Energy Future

NuruGrids Africa is a clean-tech company building integrated energy systems for the continent — sitting at the intersection of hardware, software, and intelligence.

The Aggregator Africa Needs

Africa's energy transition isn't just about adding more solar panels. It's about building the intelligence layer that makes distributed energy resources work together — as a system, not a collection of isolated installations.

NuruGrids Africa exists in the space above the pure EPC contractor and below the utility. We are the aggregator/orchestrator layer — combining industrial edge computing, production-grade software, and AI intelligence to turn fragmented energy assets into coherent, optimisable networks.

Our flagship product, NuruCore EMS, is the technical foundation — a production-grade energy management system that handles real-time safety control, multi-protocol device orchestration, AI-driven analytics, and regulatory compliance reporting in a single ruggedized edge device. Our solutions span the full spectrum: from net metering compliance for commercial facilities to virtual power plants aggregating industrial zones, from smart mini-grids powering rural communities to vehicle-to-grid services leveraging electric fleet batteries.

NuruCore EMS industrial edge computing hardware — the BLIoT ARMxy BL350 Series with I/O expansion boards

Open, Intelligent, Africa-Adapted

Our technology stack is built on three principles that differentiate us from imported solutions.

Industrial Edge Computing

NuruCore EMS is built on a dual-core AM62x platform — a safety-critical Cortex-M4F running Zephyr RTOS for real-time relay control, anti-islanding, and Modbus/CAN/M-Bus I/O, paired with a Cortex-A53 Linux cluster running our Rust-based EMS orchestration engine. No cloud dependency for field operations.

Magistrala Cloud Layer

For cloud-scale device management, data routing, and analytics, we integrate with Magistrala — connecting all distributed NuruCore EMS nodes into a unified northbound operational view with multi-protocol support and dashboards for portfolio-level monitoring.

On-Device AI Inference

ONNX-based AI inference runs directly on NuruCore EMS — no cloud round-trip required. Sliding-window anomaly detection and generation forecasting execute locally, enabling autonomous dispatch decisions even in low-connectivity or offline environments.

EnerAfrika Ventures advisory team in Nairobi

EnerAfrika Ventures

EnerAfrika Ventures serves as our strategic advisory and investment partner — providing market intelligence, regulatory navigation, and connections across East Africa's energy ecosystem.

This partnership gives NuruGrids Africa access to deep institutional knowledge of African energy markets while maintaining our independence as a technology-first company. Together, we're building the infrastructure layer that will power Africa's next decade of growth.

Kenya's 2026 Energy Transformation

Kenya's energy sector is undergoing its most consequential structural transformation in decades. Two new regulatory pillars have created an urgent, structural demand for the intelligence infrastructure NuruCore EMS delivers.

90%+

Renewable grid capacity — one of the greenest grids globally

6,000

Large industrial consumers now eligible for Open Access direct power procurement (May 2026)

100 MW

Net metering cap — first-mover registration window now open under EPRA Legal Notice 104

450+ MW

C&I installed solar capacity eligible for net metering activation, growing to 600 MW by 2028

Kenya's May 2026 Open Access Regulations & Net-Metering framework create a structural, urgent demand for the real-time monitoring, multi-protocol orchestration, and EPRA compliance reporting capabilities that NuruCore EMS delivers.
